The set of standards developed are referred to as the papiNet standards. These standards include common terminology and customary business documents (e.g. purchase orders, shipping notices, and invoices).
The goal is to improve the quality and approach of communication throughout the supply chain, increase efficiency in transactions and marketplace activities, and to support operations amongst trading partners.
The Internet offers new opportunities for efficient and cost-effective executions of transactions and is truly a global infrastructure available to us all. Using this infrastructure, papiNet documents and messages (XML) are exchanged between trading partners, through messaging software, provided free of charge by papiNet.
The papiNet standard is open, free, and easy to take on board, providing common benefits to supply chain participants. With the papiNet standard, companies will no longer face the costly and demanding task of negotiating and agreeing on data definitions and formats with individual trading partners. Instead, papiNet provides a common messaging crossing point to enable supply chain partners to do business in a more resourceful way.
The main e-commerce solutions are using the papiNet standards as solid, common grounds on which to build upon its functionalities. Portucel Soporcel Group is a founding member of Expresso, which uses these precise standards.
