In view of the news recently published by the media concerning possible investments in Uruguay, Portucel – Empresa Produtora de Pasta e Papel SA, informs the following:

As a result of contacts initiated by the Government of Uruguay through its Embassy in Portugal, Portucel has been involved in conversations regarding the analysis of business development opportunities in that country.

This process is part of the strategic development plan outlined by the Group, which entails the analysis of opportunities to internationalise its production basis and the exploration of new markets for the products it produces – bleached eucalyptus pulp and uncoated woodfree papers – and the investment in Uruguay is one of the development opportunities currently under analysis.
