FSC Portugal – Associação para a Gestão Florestal Responsável held its first general meeting on 15 January last at the auditorium of CAP – Confederação dos Agricultores de Portugal, in Lisbon, to elect its governing bodies.

The Portucel Soporcel Group, as a reference company in the industry of forest products, was elected chairman of the general meeting of FSC Portugal, in the person of Mr João Soares, a company executive.

The objective of FSC Portugal is to expand the forest area in Portugal that is certified under the FSC, thus ensuring that the practices adopted for the management of the country’s forest assets are economically viable, environmentally responsible and socially accepted.
