Since 2005 the Portucel Soporcel group has made a strong commitment to obtaining forest certification. This goal was finally achieved on 5 December, with an area of more than 102 thousand of hectares of forest managed by the Group being certified by the FSC – Forest Stewardship Council.

This certification reflects our long-standing commitment to the responsible and sustainable management of the forest, using the best available environmental and applied research techniques.

The forest certification process was conducted in accordance with the principles and criteria of the GSC certification programme, requiring the Group to adapt and attune itself to new procedures, which it had to learn in order to comply with the established objectives.

The achievement of this goal will allow the Group to meet the demands of consumers who increasingly valorise products sourced from well managed and certified forests – which is the case of the superior quality paper produced by the Group.
