On the occasion of the celebrations of the International Day of Disabled Persons (December 3), a public presentation of a Guidebook of Resources for Disabled Persons took place on December 4 at the Setúbal Municipal Library.

The Portucel Soporcel Group has joined this initiative of the Setúbal Town Council, offering the paper required to make the book and bearing all other edition costs.

The guidebook is intended for all disabled persons and also for their families, social service technicians, associations and institutions working with disabled persons and the population in general. Its main purpose is to inform and make people aware of the institutions that exist in the Setúbal municipality dedicated to the various deficiencies, as well as to provide answers to a broad range of questions related to the disabled person, such as which sports they can practice, how they can start a professional career, professional qualifications, and many others.

During this event, which was attended by the Mayor of Setúbal, Mrs. Maria das Dores Meira, it was stressed the important work done by the institutions for the disabled in the Setúbal region, and also the role which local companies can play within this network of providers by showing their solidarity and acting in a responsible manner. In particular, the Mayor highlighted the Group’s contribution to make possible this socially valuable project.
