Portucel Soporcel Group actively participates on the open seminar “Sharing Experience on Biodiversity”, on European Paper Week
04-12-2008
The Tenth European Paper Week took place in Brussels, between the 25th and 27th of November, and this year under the theme “Fit for the future”, once again gathering more than 350 participants of several entities in a high level forum of the sector.
Amongst the different initiatives of the event, an open seminar has been held, organized by CEPI (Confederation of European Paper Industries, http://www.cepi.org/Content/Default.asp), concerning biodiversity conservation. The seminar “Sharing Experiences on Biodiversity” had the objective of showing some of the work that has been done aiming at the publication of a guidance document for the protection of biodiversity, based on the practices that pulp and paper industries apply along the wood procurement chains.
Portucel Soporcel’s representative in CEPI’s working group on biodiversity, Paula Guimarães, has presented some of the company’s experience in integrating conservation in the design of plantations
