The Portucel Soporcel group is a structural force in the Portuguese economy. The Group is one of the country's three leading exporters, and possibly the exporter generating the most national value added, as its products are manufactured from Portuguese raw materials and resources.
In 2011, the Group recorded sales of 1,5 billion euros, corresponding to growth of 7,4% comparing to the same period in 2010. Exports totalled above 1.2 billion euros, accounting for approximately 3% of Portugal's visible exports, figures which reflect the Group's importance as an exporter to more than 115 countries over five continents (95% of its sales of cellulose pulp and paper were made abroad).
The Group increased its exports by 7% comparing with the previous year.
